Quick Trigger Kennels is a small, family-owned, veteran-operated kennel specializing in purebred Fox Red Labrador Retrievers. Located in Pine City, Minnesota, just north of the Twin Cities, we breed Labradors known for their exceptional temperament, drive, and trainability.

We carefully select dogs with great temperament, personality, natural hunting instincts, proven pedigrees, and health clearances. Our goal is to produce well-balanced retrievers—outstanding hunting companions that excel in training while also being loving, full-time house dogs. When it comes time to train, they can turn it on a switch, but when it comes time to relax, they can relax just as fast. And, of course, they’re absolutely stunning!

Our dogs and puppies are well-socialized with children, other dogs, and other pets. Each puppy comes with a 26-month health guarantee, a vet check, and enrollment in our Quick Trigger Kennels puppy program, which includes:

• Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and the QTK Sound Program
• Potty training
• Introduction to birds and water
• Puppy spa
• Socialization techniques from Puppy Culture and the Empowered Breeder Program

Puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks, receive their first vaccinations, and are microchipped. They are also AKC registered, with full registration available only through our strict approval process. Our puppy program is thorough, balanced, and includes the very best nutritional supplements and food on the market.

Our breeding dogs undergo genetic testing through Paw Print Genetics for common Labrador diseases, and their results are available through Hunting Lab Pedigree.

Quick Trigger Kennels is dedicated to breeding top-quality Labrador Retrievers with exceptional pedigrees, featuring lines stacked with titled dogs[link to Title Information page], including National Field Champion (NFC), Field Champion (FC), Amateur Field Champion (AFC), Qualified All-Age (QAA), Qualified All-Age 2 (QA2), Master Hunter (MH), and Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH).

Our Labradors excel in a wide range of roles, from loyal family companions to skilled hunting dogs, specializing in waterfowl, pheasant, blood trailing, grouse, and shed hunting. They also thrive in competitions such as AKC Field Trials, Hunt Tests, UKC events, scent work, rally, dock diving, tournaments, and derbies. Additionally, our dogs are well-suited for service work, search and rescue, and companionship.

Why Choose Quick Trigger Kennels?

At Quick Trigger Kennels, our goal is to continuously improve the Labrador breed in health, genetics, intelligence, temperament, and appearance by selectively breeding top-quality Labradors. We conduct thorough research and testing to ensure we provide our customers with the highest-quality Labradors suited to their desired needs.

Our primary focus is on Fox Red Labrador Retrievers, a color variation of the traditional Yellow Labrador Retrievers. While often called "red," their coat is actually a deep shade of yellow, officially recognized by the AKC as "Yellow." The beautiful red shade of our dogs varies, but all have the color of a fox red. The coats change color over the year, and will typically darken as the dogs age. 

We occasionally produce Black Labradors by introducing top-quality black pedigree sires (including National Field Champions) to our Fox Red females. These carefully planned litters result in outstanding offspring carrying both yellow and black genes, with exceptional pedigrees and field potential. Our commitment to improving the breed drives us to incorporate National Field Champions and Field Champions into our lines, ensuring our dogs can compete at the highest levels while remaining loving, loyal companions at home.

Quick Trigger Kennels is located on 150 acres dedicated entirely to Labradors. We have built nine ponds for training, hunting, and competitions, with plans to expand our water training grounds. Additionally, we raise our own pheasants for training purposes. Our property is continuously being enhanced to provide the best training environment possible.

We welcome and encourage our clients to train with us! There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing our pups in action alongside their owners.

 About the Breeder of Merit Program

The AKC Breeder of Merit program celebrates breeders who go above and beyond to prioritize the health, temperament, and well-being of their puppies. This program recognizes those dedicated to maintaining breed standards and ensuring their AKC-registerable puppies find loving homes. 

As a Breeder of Merit, we show our commitment to the AKC mission by health testing and individually registering 100% of our puppies, while setting a strong example for breeders everywhere.

The American Kennel Club recognizes Breeders of Merit for their dedication to breeding purebred dogs with the appearance, temperament, and abilities that are true to their breed standard, and for their commitment to health screening and 100 percent puppy registration. The AKC celebrates their success in and passion for canine sports. They are the pinnacle of the AKC community. As a Breeder of Merit, we at QTK must demonstrate to the AKC the following:

• Have a history of at least 5 years involvement with AKC events 
• Can demonstrate a commitment to individually registering 100 percent of the puppies we have bred
• Have earned either AKC Conformation, Performance, or Companion* event titles on at least four dogs from AKC litters we have bred/co-bred** 
• Are a member of an AKC breed club 
• Can certify that applicable health tests are performed on your breeding stock, as recommended by the Parent Club.
